(Our first day in business together 2004)

M&M Baby Slings were born in 2004 out of two sisters in law, Maggie and Micaiah’s, love of babywearing and the need for local easy access to slings.

Both Micaiah and Maggie were avid baby-wearers in an area of the country where baby slings were an oddity. Everywhere we went together and a part people would stop us and ask us where we got our interesting carriers. In August of 2004 we joined the Nampa Farmers Market as vendors and the rest is M&M Baby history! Since that August day over 4 years ago we have continued to make slings and can boast at well over 300 made and sold or donated (not to shabby for 2 homeschooling Mommas with 9 children between us). We also were blessed to teach the “art of baby-wearing” in conjunction with The Baby Place Midwives, in Meridian Idaho and the New Moms group at St Luke’s also in Meridian, Idaho. In 2007 the sisters sadly parted ways with Micaiah and family heading south to Kansas to help with the rebuilding efforts of the Greensburg Kansas Tornado. A few months later Maggie and Family headed north to Alaska, when Maggie’s husband accepted the call to become the Youth and Children’s Pastor of a church in Wasilla, Alaska.

It is my goal to provide high quality hand crafted slings for a good price. Over the years the style and pattern of the M&M Baby sling has changed to suit what we feel is most comfortable and attractive. Our ring sling design is an inverted fan which opens up into a perfect pouch to provide you with a little less adjusting of the rails. This inverted fan makes our slings naturally open up and fan out over your shoulder for greater comfort. Our ring slings are made from 2 ½ yards of fabric and are a one size fits all sling, which means that Mom, Dad and Grandma can all use the same sling if they like. Each M&M Baby ring sling is made with aluminum sling rings that are made specifically for baby slings and tested by sling rings for safety and strength before I ever sew them into your sling. You can rest assured that each sling is strength tested by me and can hold well past the weight limit of 35lbs although holding more than 35lbs in your sling is not recommended (it’s too hard on your body).

As of July of 2007 the slings and things on this website have been created solely by Maggie. While Micaiah still slings and sews, the online store and slings now belong to Maggie and everything you see has been handcrafted by her in the great state of Alaska.

It is my goal for the coming months to introduce to you the brand new Matsu Valley Babywearing group as well as my newest creating the M&M Baby Sling Wrap, a new type of carrier that is both wrap and sling. I also hope to upload some pouch and wrap carriers as well. I like all the different carriers and but the Ring Sling is my favorite! If you are interested in attending baby wearing meetings contact me via the website and I will let you know when our first meeting is!

Blessings!

Maggie
